Around 50 participants from Public and Private sectors, think tanks, research organizations and the media attended the seminar. The moderator and panelists of the seminar were:

OBJECTIVE

To provide a forum for discussion on WTO trade and development issues for LDCs and developing countries.

CONTENT

The symposium  took place during the WTO’s 9th Ministerial Conference in Bali, Indonesia, within the framework of ICTSD’s Trade and Development Symposium. Dr. Mostafa Abid Khan made the keynote presentation to give the background of WTO TFA and set in motion the session’s discussion. Dr. Prabir de urged that flexibility should be given to developing countries and LDCs for developing trade logistics and infrastructure.  Major areas focused in the symposium were: Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA): potential opportunities; WTO TFA: Administrative and regulatory hurdles & financial and technical assistance; Trade facilitation reform agenda: Infrastructure requirement; South-South Cooperation: Role of regional cooperation in trade facilitation; Post-Bali global trade scenario: Implications for LDCs and developing countries.
