The event was chaired by Dr. Md. Mozibur Rahman, CEO, BFTI. Md. Sabur Khan, President, DCCI was present as the special guest. Mr. Mohammad Farhad, Research Fellow, BFTI was the key-note speaker who also summarized the IER 2013 for the participants. Mr. Feroz Mahmud, COO, Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD) and Dr. Md. Abu Yusuf, Senior Fellow of BFTI participated as designated discussant. Basically, cloud computing is a data-storage facility that automatically transfers data from computers instantly and sends those to global data storing, management and sharing portals. As the world is getting increasingly reliant on information economy, cloud computing increases people’s ability to work more through networking. The seminar focused on issues including understanding cloud economy, uniform economic database through cloud computing, security of stored data, comparative information on IT and cloud computing, current situation of developing countries, infrastructural and regulatory challenges to cloud computing etc. Some suggestions for devising appropriate policies to maximize gains from cloud computing were deliberated upon. The event was highly interactive with questions from the audience on various methods of cloud computing. The event concluded with the BFTI entrusted with the task of taking necessary initiatives, through consultation with all stakeholders, to devise appropriate policy to maximize gains from cloud computing and place it to the appropriate government agency for implementation.
