The opening ceremony of the training program titled ‘Rules and Procedures for Import and Export for BEPZA Officials’ organized by Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) was held on 26 January 2025 at the Conference Room of BFTI at Karwan Bazar, Dhaka. This 5-day-long training program will continue from 26 to 30 January 2025.
Mr. Mohammad Navid Safiullah, CEO (Additional charge), BFTI and Director General (Additional Secretary), Trade Organization (DTO) Wing Ministry of Commerce, Chaired the event, and Mr. Julfikar Islam, Research Manager (Research/Study), BFTI, delivered the opening remarks.
In his speech, Mr. Mohammad Navid Safiullah, CEO, BFTI highlighted the significance of the international trade encompassing exports and imports in the economic development of Bangladesh. He addressed the training program as time-befitting and stated that the knowledge gap among the trade related officials regarding sector-specific import-export procedures, customs clearance and banking provisions for the shipment of consignments can disrupt the integrity of trade environment and increase costs of doing business. Hoping that this training will provide a comprehensive understanding of rules and procedures for import and export to augment the international trade-related knowledge of BEPZA officials, he declared the auspicious inauguration of the 5-day-long training program.
A total of 24 officials from both the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) attended the training program.
