Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) organized a Validation Workshop on the study titled ‘Identifying the Area of Products for Imposing Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties’ under Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission (BTTC) on 24 May 2025. The event was held at the Academic Block of the BFTI at Karwan Bazar, Dhaka.

Mr. Md. Abdur Razzak (Additional Secretary), Chief ExecutiveOfficer (CEO), BFTI graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his opening remark, Mr. Md. Abdur Razzak (Additional Secretary), expressed his sincere appreciation to the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission (BTTC) for entrusting BFTI with the responsibility of conducting the study. He also extended his gratitude to all participants for their valuable presence and engagement at the event. He emphasized the need to increase exports and enhance the competitiveness of domestic industries through fair international trade practices.

The workshop was honoured by the presence of Mr. Md. Munir Chowdhury, National Trade Expert, BRCP-1 (Former Additional Secretary (Grade-1), Ministry of Commerce) and Mr. Md. Hafizur Rahman, Administrator, FBCCI (Former additional secretary, Ministry of Commerce) as Special Guests. Mr. Md. Enamul Haque, Member (Joint Secretary), Trade Remedies Division, Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission (BTTC) attended the workshop as the discussant. 

Mr. Ahsanul Islam, Joint Director of BFTI, delivered the welcome remarks, setting the tone for the day’s discussions while Mr. Harunur Rashid, Research Manager, BFTI presented the keynote paper. 

The validation workshop was followed by an interactive Q&A session moderated by Mr. Md. Munir Chowdhury, National Trade Expert, Bangladesh Regional Connectivity Project (BRCP)-1 and Former Additional Secretary (Grade-1), Ministry of Commerce. Participants from Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh Bank, Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission (BTTC), Bangladesh Engineers Industry Owner's Association (BEIOA), Walton Group, Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI), Bangladesh Furniture Exporters Association, NBR, BKMEA, Bangladesh Bicycle Merchant Assembling & Importers Association, Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD), Policy Research Institute of Bangladesh (PRI), Research and Policy Integration for Development (RAPID), Star Gypsum Board Mills Ltd., RahimAfroze Group, Energypac Engineering Ltd., SME Foundation exchanged their thoughtful views and opinions at the workshop.
