Validation workshop on the study for determining policy supports and incentives for Bangladesh's RMG was organized by BFTI

BFTI conducted a study for the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) titled, 'Determining policy supports and incentives (including subsidies) to be offered now and during post-LDC graduation for sustainable development of readymade garments (RMG) export sector analyzing the mechanism and strategy of its closest competitor countries'. The overall objective of the study is to identify existing government policy supports and incentives (direct and indirect) being allowed to RMG sector in Bangladesh and its competitor countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and recommend policy support for the RMG sector in Bangladesh considering the current and post LDC graduation period. As per requirement of the study, a validation workshop was held on 07 May 2023 at the BFTI conference room. Mr. Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Commerce graced the workshop as the Chief Guest while Mr. A. H. M. Ahsan, Vice Chairman, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) was present as the Special Guest. Dr. Md. Jafar Uddin, Chief Executive Officer, BFTI presided over the workshop as the Chairperson. Mr. Md. Obaidul Azam, Director, BFTI delivered the welcome remarks and moderated the workshop. Mr.  Mohammad Hatem, Executive President, BKMEA and Ms. Neela Hosna Ara, Director, BGMEA were present as panel discussants.
