Bangladesh is going to graduate from LDC in 2026 and envisioned to be a developed and 'Smart Bangladesh' by 2041. In order to materialize the Vision, the country has taken an export-oriented growth strategy in its 8th Five Year Plan and plenty of export friendly initiatives. But the efforts of the government can't see desired level of success due to limited diversification of export products. Studies found that government policy supports have made a significant contribution to the success of the RMG sector of Bangladesh. Therefore, the paper aimed to identify the policy support provided to the sector. The study compares the policy support provided to RMG sector with other sectors, namely: Leather, Pharmaceuticals, Jute, IT Services and Handicrafts sectors. Lastly, the study recommended some policy interventions for the export growth of the above mentioned Non RMG sectors.
"Replacing RMG Model and Diversifying Export Basket" titled article was published by BFTI in Foreign Service Academy (FSA) journal (Volume 1, Number 1, 2024).
