Opening Ceremony of the Training Program on Understanding Tax, VAT & Customs Duty for Trade held

The opening ceremony of the training program titled ‘Understanding Tax, VAT & Customs Duty for Trade’ organized by BFTI was held on 29 October 2024 at the Conference room of the BFTI at Karwan Bazar, Dhaka. This 3-day-long training program will continue from 29 to 31 October 2024.

Mr. Mohammad Navid Safiullah, CEO (Additional Charge), BFTI and Additional Secretary, Export Wing, Ministry of Commerce, Chaired the event, and Mr. Rashedul Kabir, Research Manager (Academic Affairs), BFTI, delivered the opening remarks.

In his speech, Mr. Mohammad Navid Safiullah, CEO, BFTI highlighted the significance of the progressive taxation system and redistributive public spending mechanism. He addressed the training program as time befitting and stated that the knowledge gap among new entrepreneurs, businessmen, professionals and executives regarding customs, VAT, and income tax laws can lead to fines and financial losses. Hoping that this training will provide a comprehensive understanding of Tax, VAT and Customs Duty to augment the tax-related knowledge capacity of individuals and organizations, he declared the auspicious inauguration of the 3-day-long training program.

Participants from the Ministry of Commerce, Foreign Service Academy (FSA), Bangladesh Bank, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Office of the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports (CCI&E), Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Delta Pharma Ltd., Eastern Bank PLC, Filament Engineering Ltd., Tradent Ltd. and BFTI attended the training program.
