Bangladesh is going to graduate as a developing country in 2026 and is therefore, likely to face challenges in market access, preference erosion, condition of value addition, additional tariff, and likely reduction of overall export and employment opportunities. Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI), a think tank under Ministry of Commerce conducted the study on: “WTO Special and Differential Treatment (S & DT) and Graduation Challenges” under Bangladesh Regional Connectivity Project-1 (BRCP-1), WTO Wing, Ministry of Commerce (MoC). The objective of the study was to provide policy feedback to the government to formulate strategies for coping with the challenges of graduation. The study report was published in March 2023.
