The two-day commerce secretary-level meeting between Bangladesh and Bhutan was organisedto discuss bilateral connectivity, transit, tariff and non-tariff barriers and hydroelectricity.

Economic Affairs Secretary of Bhutan, Mr. DashoYeshiWangdi, with a delegation of 10-members attended the meeting. Bhutan expressed its interest in exporting hydropower to Bangladesh. Joint Secretary, M Munir Chowdhury, urged on initiatives from the Ministry of Power.

Other issues discussed in the meeting included transit agreement, elimination of non-tariff barriers, simplification of visa process, cooperation in tourism and exchange of information related to foreign investment. A delegation of 17 members led by the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Hedayetullah Al Mamoon was present from the Bangladeshi side.
